Robin's Nest Monthly Nudge Newsletter
August Edition 2024

Hello beautiful people!
I've been on a bit of a hiatus since before and after
my recent retirement from my work in education.
It was official on June 4, 2024!!
(Yep, I've kept it relatively lowkey, but rest assured -- I celebrated!)
Several people either asked me, "Why are you retiring?" or
"What are you gonna do in retirement???
In response I said, "I'm retiring because it's time, it's time for the
next phase/second half of life. I'm retiring because I'm ready for margin
in my schedule and opportunity to engage on my terms."
Then occasionally I'd add, "Though I'm retiring from my work,
I'm not retiring from living. I'm looking forward to
the transition retirement brings. Transition that will afford
time for rest, more time with family and friends,
recalibration -- physically, spiritually, mentally, and emotionally,
and opportunities for travel."
Retirement = Transition
And what a transition it's been and is!
It began with the realization that I really could sleep in if I wanted to, and
I could stay-up late as often as I choose. I could make plans (and did) to
hangout with my granddaughters any weekday at anytime. I could
(and do) have longer conversations with family and friends.
I could develop a deeper time in God's word.
I can visit with my mother more.
I can develop and create new Robin's Nest programs.
I can travel to faraway places.
But transition has it's challenges too, and most often these
challenges are tied to the unknowns and what-if's.
What if I miss the daily routine? What if I get bored?
What if I'm unmotivated to create?
What if my finances don't feel like enough?
What if???
Thankfully, the challenges of the unknown and
thoughts of 'what if's' don't overshadow the reality of what is.
Transition is. And it holds beauty, wonder, amazement, and joy!
May I nudge you?
Think of a transition you've come through or are currently in
and consider the benefit it afforded you. Journal what comes to mind.
